With a confidence boosting (and much needed) 5-0 victory over Red Star Belgrade in the midweek Champions League clash, Tottenham Hotspur went into Sunday’s huge Premier League clash with Liverpool at Anfield at least feeling better than we had done in more recent fixtures.
Relative form proved it would be another massive test with Spurs not quite finding their gear in 2019, but if you can’t hope in football, what’s the point?
It seemed hope may have been well placed as Harry Kane opened the scoring 60 seconds into the match, but it quickly became one of those days where we’d need to hold on and stay tight at the back as Liverpool quickly dominated.
Shortly after the restart they got their reward as Henderson hit the leveller and then a Salah penalty with 15 minutes remaining in the game sent the advantage their way.
Unfortunately, that was how it ended and had it not been for Gazzaniga’s performance between the sticks, Liverpool could’ve extended their margin of victory but questions will be asked about the performance again.
